» Mobile home park residents get evictions dismissed

Several Regency mobile home park residents who went to court Thursday to contest eviction notices can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.

Magistrate Karen Egerton dismissed several of the cases on the grounds that Regency had not properly served the tenants with the necessary paperwork.

Six dogs and a large litter of kittens were forced to fend for themselves inside a Kennewick mobile home for close to a week, after their owners apparently skipped town. Hood Avenue Mobile Home Park owner Randy Jackson found the abandoned pets last Sunday. Shocked and unsure of what to do, Jackson called Action News looking for help.

Children playing with a cigarette lighter appear to have started a fire at a home in Raleigh.

Firefighters were called to a mobile home park near Stonybrook and Brentwood roads around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
