Four new homes for village despite protests
VILLAGERS in Hedsor have lost their fight against a housing development which they say will spoil views of the Thames Valley.

Developer Millgate Homes has been given a green light to build four new 'period-style' homes on land at Four Winds, Harvest Hill.

Permission from Wycombe District Council is subject to a planning obligation, however, meaning Millgate will be required to make a financial contribution to public infrastructure in the area.

Nigel Pullen, of neighbouring home Brantwood, was one of dozens who objected to a development at the site, saying last year: “From our house we can see all across the valley to Winter Hill and this will completely block out our view.”

Another villager described the site as “the most beautiful and peaceful setting”, while John Dalton, who lives on nearby Hawks Hill, said it would be an “irreversible...catastrophic loss”.

In 2008 the developer had plans for eight houses on the same site thrown out by the council as it 'failed to recognise the rural character of the setting'. Another, similar scheme was rejected last year.

Along with the new five and six bedroom homes the developer also plans to extend the existing Four Winds Cottage.

Millgate Homes told the council the houses will be similar in size to the other properties in the area.
