Wharton man charged with shoplifting at Roxbury Home Depot
ROXBURY TWP. — A Wharton man has been charged with shoplifting after an attempted scam at the Roxbury Home Depot store. According to police, on June 10, Patrolman Jim Kenny responded to the Home Depot in reference to a person trying to sell a Home Depot gift card to customers in the store. The person attempting to sell the gift cards was identified as Anthony Mennicucci, 28, of Wharton. The value of the card was $192 and Mennicucci was attempting to sell it for $150. At first, police said Mennicucci said he returned items from his uncle’s construction company that were bought at Home Depot. Mennicucci later admitted that he stole light switch dimmers and saw blades from the store. He later returned the items without a receipt and was given the gift card instead of cash. The light switches are valued at $179.86, and the blades are valued at $142.88. Mennicucci was arrested, charged with shoplifting, and released pending court. •On June 10, a 17- year-old female juvenile from Budd Lake, and a 16 year-old female juvenile from Hackettstown, were taken into custody for shoplifting at Kohls. The 17-year-old had $150 worth of clothing and jewelry in her bag, while the 16- year-old had $162.97 worth of clothing and jewelry in her bag. Both juveniles were taken to headquarters and released to their parents. Complaints will be signed through the juvenile court. •On June 12, Kara Bartolo Young, 22, of Verona was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence by Patrolman Tom VanHouten. Officer VanHouten observed a 2004 Toyota going east on Rt.46 with a headlight out. When VanHouten stopped the vehicle on Route 46, he observed a brake light was also out. Young was the driver of the vehicle and it was determined she was under the influence. She was taken to headquarters where she was processed, given summonses for driving while under the influence, maintenance of lamps, and released. •On June 13, Steven Hance, 22, of Ledgewood, was found walking on Rt.46 at 3:15 a.m. by Patrolman. Jonathan Edmunds. Hance said he was walking to the CVS for cigarettes. It was determined Hance had a $750 warrant out of Byram Township. Hance was place under arrest and turned over to Byram Police. •For the week of June 7 to the 13, officers responded to 20 motor vehicle accidents, 18 alarms, 25 requests for an ambulance, and conducted 376 motor vehicle stops. source: http://www.recordernewspapers.com/articles/2010/06/25/roxbury_register/news/doc4c1ff70350a22333582339.txt |
