Electronics Company Samsung has recently launched a new technology in terms of household electronics, a 3D TV (or LED TV). Recently launched, this product doesn’t seem to have gained as much popularity as the LCD TVs but the manufacturer claims a growing sale in the near future. Samsung targets a sale of 300,000 LED/LCD TVs and believes that out of which a 10 per cent of the sales will be accounted by 3D TVs this year.
Launching 10 models of the same, Samsung’s 46-inch 3D TV, comes bundled with a free pair of 3D glasses, worth Rs 8,000, and a free 3D movie. Supplementary pair of 3D glasses (battery-supported) costs Rs 4,900 and rechargeable glasses costs Rs 8,000.
As a matter of fact that there isn’t too much 3D content in the world, Samsung smartly has introduced a 2D to 3D switch mode controllable through the remote. Any content viewed on TV can be switched to 3D compatibility from plain old 2D. The effects may not be as good as 100 percent but none the less it is still good enough to be enjoyed.
Samsung also plans to launch 3D Blu-Ray Disc players complimentary with this TV or available in the market otherwise as an accessory LED or LCD TVs.
Sony intending to catch up with Samsung in the market is supposed to launch its 3D products in June. The contented model will be a 46-inch screen costing approximately $3,875 (nearly Rs 1, 75,000, Prices subject to change). Accompanying each TV will be two pairs of 3D glasses. Following which, about 80 sets of 3D movies are to be put on the product rack along with Blu-Ray Disc Players attracting customers to shop for. The fact that satellite broadcasting players or set top boxes have no 3D content yet to be displayed limits the popularity of these new 3D products in the market.
