Lee’s Specialty adds home accent and designer touch
Lee’s Specialty, an invitation and stationery retailer in Bloomfield Hills, has expanded its business by launching Special Things at Lee’s. The new company, located inside Lee’s at 4076 W. Maple Road, offers home accents and gifts, a bridal registry and professional interior design services and consultations. Special Things carries individually selected home accents and gifts collected during travels around the globe by shop co-owners Solange Messelian and Gloria Colton. Colton provides interior design services for customizing homes and businesses through the shop. Among the store’s inventory are tabletop and decorative accents, personalized giftware and oven-to-table ware. The shop carries home accessories such as pillows, throws, picture frames and accent tables. “A home is never finished until it is accessorized,” Colton said. “Home design should reflect the personality of the client, be extremely pleasing to the eye and make sense in terms of purpose.” Messelian, who has owned Lee’s Specialty for more than 25 years, said, “By growing to include Special Things at Lee’s, we can offer our clients a wider range of services and gifts.” Previously, Colton worked for more than 30 years as a designer at Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Design. She attended the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, studying design and architecture. The two women first met and became friends nearly five years ago when Colton was commissioned to design the interior of Messelian’s home. The store is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.
