Home electronics: Belkin routers include new apps
Belkin has announced the release of a new line of routers that could appeal to home users.
The Surf, Share, Play and Play Max wireless routers are geared towards helping users play music, HD videos and games over their home networks.
With built-in applications that could help customers enhance their wireless experience, the range boasts support for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless network bands, allowing for faster transfer rates.
Apps include Memory Safe, which protects stored data, SelfHeal, which fixes a broken connection automatically, and Movie Maker, which gives users the tools to create their own video files.
They also feature UPnP server technology and offer 256-bitWPA2 and 64/128 WEP encryption for added security.
Jim Wagner, general manager at Belkin, said: "We made our Surf, Share and Play routers powerful enough to give great networking experiences and we added easy-to-use apps to enable these activities.
"Now, even the most novice of consumer can create great experiences in their home and across their network."
The routers in the new range are priced between $49.99 (£33) and $129.99.
Belkin also ships power cables, upgrade cards and datacenter solutions.
