SUV crashes into Mishawaka Home Depot store
A Mishawaka home improvement retailer will need some exterior work of its own after an SUV crashed into its building Friday afternoon.
Mishawaka first responders were called to the Home Depot at 317 Indian Ridge Blvd., after a 74-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the front of the building near the north end.
According to police, Bernard Morgano was traveling on Indian Ridge Boulevard when a medical event, possibly related to his pacemaker, caused him to step on the accelerator and enter the retailer's parking lot.
The driver crashed into a car waiting to exit the parking lot and proceeded to jump two curbs until the SUV hit the building.
Morgano suffered a dislocated shoulder and a broken leg. His 16-year-old granddaughter suffered minor facial injuries.
There were no other injuries reported in the incident.
