Plants, garden fair opens in Mount Dora Gardening for the soul and stomach is the theme for the "15th Annual Mount Dora Plant and Garden Fair," scheduled for today and Sunday at Simpson Cove in Mount Dora. The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Edible plants, fruit trees from cold-hardy avocado to pomegranate, organic herbs, tomatoes, zucchini, leeks, green beans, sweet banana peppers, olive trees and homemade hot sauces will be available at the event. Specialty growers will feature everything from African violets to orchids, begonias, bonsai and more. For more information, call 352-729-2170. Master gardener talks of cold, drought help Master Gardener Howard Jeffries will speak on "Cold and Drought Protection" at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Edgewater Public Library, 103 Indian River Blvd., Edgewater. Oceanshore Blvd., Palm Coast. Liz Morrison will teach her three-step approach and provide hints for making a successful and easy to maintain dish garden at the workshop scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Take a pot or purchase one at the event.
