Harding Home to open for season
The 2009 summer season opens at the Harding Home on Memorial Day, and three special events are scheduled for June, states a press release.

# Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, the Harding Home, 380 Mt. Vernon Ave., will be open from 12-3 p.m. for tours highlighting President Harding's connection to veterans. Active members of the armed forces, their spouses and children will be admitted free with current military ID. Adult admission that day will be a reduced rate of $5. Children 6 and older are $3.

# Rose Garden Tea

Tickets are on sale until May 28 for the Rose Garden Tea at the Harding Home. The tea, scheduled for 2-5 p.m. June 14, includes an afternoon of delicious food and delightful company in an airy tent on the lawn. An avid rose gardener, Florence Harding directed many upgrades to the White House Rose Garden. The event, hosted by the Presidential Garden Club, features an expert demonstrating how to arrange roses and care for them. The afternoon includes a three-course tea presented by All Occasions Catering and a special tour of the Home. Tickets can be purchased by credit card or cash only by calling 740-387-9630 or 1-800-600-6894. Admission is $30 per adult, and $25 for members of the Ohio Historical Society.

# History Detectives: The Case of the Nosy Reporter

Kids ages 8-12 become detectives on June 16 as the Harding Home's popular History Detectives series presents The Case of the Nosy Reporter. Warren Harding owned The Marion Daily Star for nearly 40 years. With Harding as the inspiration, the kids will put on their reporters' hats and get to work gathering the news in old-time Marion and interviewing some interesting townsfolk along the way. Includes a snack made just for hungry reporters on the go. The deadline to register is June 9. Fee is $4 per child, and $1 per OHS member child. Two sessions are offered: 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m.

# Father's Day at the Harding Home

Bring a little history into Dad's life with a tour of the President's house on Father's Day, June 21. Dad gets in free when accompanied by his family. Admission is $6 per adult, and $3 per child. Hours that day are 12-5 p.m.

# Harding Home Regular Hours

The Harding Home begins regular summer hours on May 28. It will be open 12-5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. The last tour each day begins at 4 p.m. Admission costs are $6 for adults; $5 for seniors and AAA members; and $3 for children ages 6 and older. OHS members are free.

Although a full season is planned, the Home's operation is guaranteed only through June 30, due to state budget cuts, states the release. Attempts are being made to secure additional funding, but visitors are advised to call the site at 1-800-600-6894 or 740-387-9630 about open hours after that date.
