Save Green, Get Green At Hamptons Home And Garden Show
On June 5, June 6 and June 7, the Hamptons Home and Garden Show will return to Southampton. Now in its fifth successful year, this event is the only home improvement marketplace for buyers and sellers on the East End of Long Island. This year, the show has two converging focal points. One is green living. The other is, “green," that is, stretching a homeowner's greenbacks, for greater value, in today's down economy.

The popularity of the show's GreenHamptons Pavilion reveals how green thinking has pervaded virtually all building, remodeling and interior design approaches. The Hamptons has become a fertile ground for the green building movement and the GreenHamptons Pavilion exhibitors, many that are associated with the Hamptons Green Alliance. In fact, eco-friendly vendors can be found throughout the Expo floor.

Every homeowner is seeking to get the most for his dollar in these days of a down economy and the show exhibitors are acutely aware of this. Even the hip Design & Décor section exhibitors will present cost efficient decorative approaches and vignettes, artisan furniture, and memorable art, all at values, making this show a buyer's market.

Show-goers will enjoy roaming the aisles of more than 200 eye-catching displays inside the massive 28,000 square foot fully enclosed and carpeted tent structure (the largest on Long Island). There's another 20,000 feet outside to explore, as well. They can shop and compare with at least a couple of vendors in similar product categories, uncover unique and rare products, ranging from statues, fireplaces and mantels, wall art and paintings to custom-made furniture, wine cellars, and garden antiques, to name a few.

It will be the place for homeowners to discuss their current energy footprints and how to save with alternative energy choices, or just better insulation. They will find immediately usable and practical advice on how to reduce oil, gas and electric bills, including an energy efficiency valuation rating on the rooms in their homes. They will meet the area's pioneering builders, architects, designers and suppliers of green solutions.

“How-to" seminars about the latest and most effective home improvement trends will be held in the theater on the north side of the Expo floor on Saturday and Sunday.

Homeowners will discover what's hot and “in" for the summer, even on a tight budget, as well as eco-friendly solutions from two days of talks, including the Sunday Green Seminar Series presented by the Hamptons Green Alliance members.

Hamptons.com is sponsoring the series and will host the post-lecture Green Sunday party. The mistress of ceremonies, interior designer and popular radio talk show host Natalie Weinstein, will offer home improvement tips over two days.

Even the home improvement staples are higher-end and more compelling at this year's show - from high tech kitchens, cutting-edge security systems, audio-video systems to well-built sunrooms, modular home extensions and outdoor pavers, magical landscaping presentations to slick indoor and outdoor furniture.

This year the event opens four weeks later in the season when there are weekend homeowners have already opened their homes and there are many more visitors to the Hamptons area. The milder temperature in June makes if pleasurable to stroll through the 17 acre fairgrounds. All admissions ($10 a person) received at the gate on Friday, June 5, will be donated, in full, to Southampton Hospital.

The Hamptons Home and Garden Show, located at the Southampton Elks Lodge Fairgrounds, 605 County Road 39 (Route 27), Southampton.
