 Samsung has just announced the release of a mobile phone which seems to balance technologically-advanced features with the spirit of the great outdoors.The B2700 is designed, frankly, to take a hit and what it sacrifices in looks it more than makes up for in good, old-fashioned robustness. This device is water, dust and shock resistant and is just crying out to be taken on an extended bike ride through mud and hail or perhaps for a spot of mountain-climbing. It has all the usual phone essentials but this is actually something approaching an outdoor tool, given that it includes an integral torch and, brilliantly, an altimeter, compass and pedometer for the seriously keen. This isn't to say it's short on class just because it likes being thrown about the place: this is a 3G-enabled handset with a 1.9-inch display and a two megapixel camera with 3.3x digital zoom, not to mention a video player.
