Eco Home & Garden Tour set for Bainbridge Island
The first annual Bainbridge Island Eco Home and Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, Mar. 8 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Bainbridge Island. The tour is an add-on event to the Bainbridge Island Home and Garden Show, which will be held on Saturday, Mar. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodward Middle School. The show is an all-day event featuring workshops and presentations on home improvement, gardening and other home-related topics. The Eco Tour will feature the latest project from island architect Matthew Coates of Coates Design Architects. He is the recipient of the 2005 Cradle 2 Cradle Home Innovation Design Competition. The tour will also include a visit to Vineyard Lane, the multiple award winning multi-family development on the island designed by Peter O’Conner of O’Conner Architects PLLC, and a Three Star Built Green whole house remodel co-designed by architect Miles Yanick of Miles Yanick & Co. and Molly Erin McCabe of A Kitchen That Works. Garden locations on the tour include Bloedel Reserve and Bainbridge Gardens. Presentations on a variety of sustainable design and construction topics will be offered at various locations. A program guide will include presentation descriptions, times and locations. The tour starts at the Sakai Intermediate School on Sportsman Club Road, with a presentation on the school’s innovative solar energy project. Tour tickets are $10 each for the self guided tour or $16 for the shuttle bus tour. Tickets can be purchased at Bainbridge Gardens, Brown Paper Tickets and Sakai Middle School (day of the event).
