Home electronics: New laser printer from Samsung
Heralded as a breakthrough in the design of laser printers, Samsung has launched its new ML-1630W onto the UK market. In the place of the usual control buttons, the Korean electronics firm's new laser printer boasts touch-sensitive controls embedded into the black body of the machine. In addition, the monochrome laser printer, which weighs in at just 6.4 kilogrammes and measures 33.2 centimetres by 37.5 centimetres, features unique LED displays aimed at keeping users informed of the status and activities of the printer. According to Samsung's release, the ML-1630W is capable of working with all the major operating systems, including Apple Mac OS x 10.3 or later, Linux and Microsoft Windows Vista. However, though it comes with a print resolution of 1200 x 600, initial reviews have pointed to a small paper load capacity, with the new printer's slimline designs meaning its main tray can only hold 100 sheets.
