Overstock names Home Depot vet as finance vice president
Overstock.com Inc. has appointed Steve Chesnut senior vice president of finance. Chesnut’s duties will include supervising financial planning and analysis, accounting, SEC compliance and reporting, investor relations, and treasury functions. He will report to the web-only retailer’s president, Jonathan Johnson. Most recently, Chesnut was vice president, strategy/market development/sales, at HD Supply Inc., a wholesale distribution company. Prior to that, had several positions at The Home Depot, including director of strategic planning, and director of finance and chief financial officer for Home Depot Supply. The Home Depot is No. 42 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “We felt that now was the right time to enhance our team by bringing in additional talent,” says Patrick Byrne, chairman and CEO of Overstock.com, No. 30 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “Steve’s experience will be of great benefit to Overstock.” In related news, Overstock.com has named former senior vice president of finance David Chidester as senior vice president of internal reporting and information. Chidester’s duties will include overseeing the company’s internal data and information, including internal reporting and cost accounting functions. He will report to Byrne.
