Home builder expects to have room to expand KC market share
The work force of McBride & Son Homes, an employee-owned home-building and development company, adopted a mantra three years ago, when the market began to soften. “We will not participate in the downturn,” the employee-owners said, and the company hasn’t changed its tune since other sectors of the economy began following the housing industry into a tailspin. Based in St. Louis, with a market-leading office in Kansas City since 2000, McBride & Son recently responded to the recession by launching two side businesses. The companies, started in St. Louis with the potential to be expanded into Kansas City, are Rockwood Homes, which is buying foreclosed properties from banks, and Builders Bloc Asset Management, which provides full-service property maintenance.
