Home electronics: 'Strong' electronic goods sales in Germany
 Consumers in Germany are continuing to buy electronic goods this Christmas despite the global economic downturn, according to the HDE retail association.Products such as LCD TVS, gaming keyboards and laptops all fall within this particular item category. Hubertus Pellengahr, spokesman for HDE, told Reuters Television that the German people have not let the recent negative news concerning the economy affect their festive shopping habits. Although figures are running below last year's level, they are not as low as some had feared. Mr Pellegahr explained that an HDE survey of 500 companies revealed that sales of jewellery, sporting goods, toys and perfumes, as well as electronic goods were better than expected. "Pessimists were predicting it would be the worst Christmas shopping of all time," he said. "That didn't happen."
