A former location of The Home Depot at the Harden Ranch Plaza in Salinas has been sold to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for an undisclosed price.

Atlanta-based Home Depot Inc. (NYSE:HD), the world's largest home improvement retailer, had formerly occupied a 102,180-square-foot building and 28,336-square-foot garden center at the southeast corner of Boronda Road and San Juan Grade Road, across the street from Northridge Mall and east of Highway 101.

The Home Depot has relocated to Boronda Crossings shopping center, a new shopping center located west of the freeway.

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT), the world's largest retailer, has been one of the few players in the industry to remain profitable during the current economic downturn.
