Home builder takes optimistic view
Now could be a very good time to take out a mortgage on a new home, a homebuilding company has suggested. Gleeson Homes has said the base rate cut last week should help those wanting to buy a home. Group managing director Richard Edgington also suggested that the recent falls in house prices mean that the present is a time to get "exceptional value for money". He concluded: "Now is a good time to buy with every likelihood of better times ahead if historical patterns dating back many years are repeated." Many experts on the property industry have said the historical patterns of property investment mean it is a better bet than alternative places to put money.
