Interior Design Show 2009 presents Prototype: Design Ideas for the Home Competition/Exhibition
IDS invites independent designers and studios to submit creative concepts not currently in production for furniture, lighting, textiles, products and accessories to the Prototype Competition/Exhibition.

Successful Prototype participants will be promoted in an exhibit display in the centre of Studio North during the Interior Design Show at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto, February 5-8, 2009. Selected participants will be listed in the IDS show guide and website and promoted to Canadian and international media.

IDS is Canada's leading design show and event, attended by 53,000 members of the professional design trade, affluent consumers, and hundreds of media.

Once selected by the jury, participants are required to pay a participation fee of $425 + GST (includes submission fee) for inclusion in the exhibit. Only full-scale prototypes or limited editions are permitted for the final exhibit. Drawings or photographs will not be accepted for display. Participants must provide their own return shipping and insurance.

The new design must be either a prototype or a limited edition. Entry is open to independent designers and studios (no manufacturers).

A maximum of three objects will be considered per application, and each application must be formatted in a single PDF file including images of the work, a description of the work including dimensions, materials, function and market potential (no more than 500 words), and a company profile (no more than 500 words).

All submissions are juried and include a $25 entrance fee (payable to Merchandise Mart Properties Canada) via cheque or Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

The professional jury will be evaluating the following criteria for selection: function, aesthetics, use of materials, design innovation, market potential, suitability for mass production and sustainability.
