Low-income Dallas residents can get home-improvement loans
Low-income Dallas residents can request applications for forgivable home-improvement loans from the city this week. The city has $1.2 million available to repairs roofs, plumbing, electrical wiring and heating and air-conditioning systems among other things. The funding is available through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The loans are available to people who have owned and occupied their homes for at least two years, are current on their taxes, and earn less than 81 percent of the median area income. For a family of five, that amounts to an annual household income of $57, 456. Loan amounts will vary but the total loan will be forgiven if an applicant meets all the program’s requirements for a period of five years.
