Home Depot, RaceTrac and AT&T Wireless in top national retailers list
Three Atlanta companies have made Stores magazine's Top 100 Retailers List, which is based on 2007 revenue.

The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) is ranked No. 3, with $77.3 billion in revenue for 2007.

"[Home Depot] Has already taken a $586 million charge this year and will close 15 stores, yet CEO [Frank] Blake is planning ahead, plowing money into new systems and store improvements," the list noted.

At No. 68 is RaceTrac Petroleum, which had $5 billion in revenue in 2007.

"Locations, all of which are company owned, feature 20 to 24 fueling positions and a 4,000-square-foot convenience store with more than 4,000 SKUs," the list said of RaceTrac.

AT&T Wireless placed 81st, with $4 billion in revenue in 2007.

"Though handsets, accessories, memory cards and other merchandise are only a sideline to phone services, it adds up to big retail business," the list said.

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) topped the list with 2007 sales of $378.8 billion.

Stores magazine is a publication of Stores Media, the communications group of the National Retail Federation. The organization is the world's largest retail trade association.
